The chart below gives information about the age of women in Australia when they give birth to their first child in 1966, 1986 and 2006

The chart illustrates the proportion of female’s age in Australia in three mentioned years when they first child was born.

Overall, it is obviously seen that the age range from 20 to 24 years old was the most suitable time for women to give birth to their babies, while females over 40 were less likely to have a child throughout the given period.

As can be seen from the graph, there was a likelihood that the percentage of women between 25 and 30 years generally accounts for 40% to 60% during three years. Besides, the year 2006 witnessed the most significant ratio of over 50% of the age range from 30 to 34, while 1966 and 1986 only saw the percentage of roughly 15% in this category.

It is clear that there was a slight increase in the proportion of females giving birth to their first child from 34 to 39 years old, which made up from about 5% to 30% during the years. In contrast, babies who were born by women at the age of 19 and under experienced a mild fall by approximately 28% in 1966, 1986 and 2006.
