As computers are being used more and more in education, there will soon be no role for the teacher in the classroom. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
There has been a general tendency that a large majority of computers are being utilized in education in modern society. Therefore, it is unavoidable that teachers are likely to play no crucial part in the classroom. From my perspective, I partly agree with this view for the following reasons.
First and foremost, the main benefit gained from computers is the plentiful knowledge resources. To be more precise, specifically, Internet has a wide range of online lessons and syllabus contents updated by educators that helps students get access to more information related to their subjects. Take YouTube as an example, containing various English online courses, it does wonders for students to comprehend namely difficult grammars and advanced vocabulary. Additionally, interesting teaching methods are considered as another advantage obtained from computers. Having several vibrant images as well as exciting sounds, videos attract students to become extremely proactive in autonomous learning instead of boringly teacher-led lessons.
Nevertheless, without sufficient supervision of teachers, the abuse of students using this machine would lead to a lack of concentration in studies. It would be irrefutable that some purposes used in computers are not suitable for learning. In other words, students having seriously detrimental habits would probably make use of many websites through cyberspace to play games, watch movies, and so on. Furthermore, it has no ability to understand students’ mental capability as a teacher. Being merely artificial intelligence, the computer is not very as emotional as a human being. When a student struggles with some touch questions, teachers are the best choice because they completely know whatever their students dealing with.
In conclusion, while some people argue that being increasingly employed in education, computers would be replaced the role of teachers, I strongly believe that teachers still make a significant contribution to formal schooling.
