Opinions differ whether leadership is an inborn characteristic or individuals can learn to be leaders. Personally, I agree with the latter view, even though the other one also shows some positive aspects.

On one hand, there are some people who were born with the virtues of an outstanding leader. The first thing is that they are more likely to have a good grasp of teamwork. Indeed, time management skills as well as collaboration skills are not barriers for them to be good leaders. Thus, They can take a flexible approach and solve all the complicated problems without difficulty. A typical example of innate leaders is Vladimir Putin who is well-known for his problem-solving and teamwork skills, despite not joining in any training courses. The other thing is that individuals who are talented at leadership are able to inspire others in an easy way.Consequently, people who innately have leadership skills are often given the captain armband.

Despite the above arguments, I maintain that leadership can be taught. The first reason is that, these days, our modern life keeps changing; therefore, being intelligent is not enough. We need to assimilate knowledge as well as tailor our leadership strategies on a regular basis. It is proved that our inborn leadership qualities are likely to fall behind if we don’t upgrade skills frequently. For instance, Joining in management training campaigns is a good way for people who lack leadership skills. After going through intensive training, participants can gain a deeper insight into their field and acquire practical knowledge from qualified professors. We will not find difficulty being leaders whether we do improve skills and broaden our knowledge repetitively.

To sum up, although both views certainly have some validity, it seems to me that it is better to learn to be a leader instead of just having inborn leadership characteristics.
