The line graph compares changes in the number of people who traveled on a daily basis by 3 different means of transport in the UK from 1970 to 2030.

Overall, there is an increase in the number of commuters going by car and train while the opposite was true for bus travelers. It is apparent that cars are the most popular means of transport over the period.

In the year 1970, standing above 5 million, cars were the most popular type of transport. In the same year, the number of UK people commuting by bus accounted for about 4 million, double that of train commuters. During the next 30 years, the number of car travelers saw a significant increase of approximately 7 million, 4 million higher than that of train travelers. An opposite trend was witnessed in the number of bus commuters as it decreased gradually to above 3 million in 2000.

In the next 20 years, it is clear that a gradual rise of 1 million was seen in the number of people who traveled by car in comparison to about 4 million train travelers in 2020. By contrast, there is a slight downtrend of about 1 million in the number of people communicating by bus.By 2023, it is forecasted that the number of car commuters will go up to reach the peak of 9 million, three times as much as that of bus travelers. Furthermore, the year 2030 witnessed a steady increase of about 2 million in the number of people traveling by train.
