The given bar chart illustrates how citizens in one European city commuted by 4 different means of transportation namely bus, car, bike or walking in three years: 1960,1980 and 2000. Overall, it can be seen that the percentage of people who chose to go to work by bus, bike or walk to work saw a downward trend. However, the opposite was true for cars. More people preferred walking than driving in 1960. The percentage of people chose to walk account for about 33% while the percentage of people used cars only represent 5%. In 1980, the number of citizens traveled by bus was highest, at over 25%. In contrast, the number of the pedestrians was only proximately 10%. The highest proportion of people preferred cars was over 35% in 2000 while the number of bicyclist was lowest, at about 6%.

The percentage of people using cars fluctuated during three years. Besides, there was a significant rise in the number of citizens used cars from 1960 to 2000. However, the proportion of bicyclist went down dramatically while a rapid rise was witnessed in the percentage of people walked to work during the period between 1960 and 2000.
