The bar chart compares the proportion of males and females in Australia who were overweight between 1980 and 2010.
Overall, it is clear to show that the proportion of overweight males was higher than that of overweight females, while the figures for both genders increased over a period 30 years.
In 1980, 40% of men in Australia were overweight and this figure rose by 18% in 1990. It is also noticeable that the proportion of overweight males reached a peak of about 65% in 2000, it then drops slightly to 60%.
Turn to the remaining genders, we can see that the figure of overweight Australian females was lower than that of overweight males. The percentage of overweight women over the 10-year period, from 30% in 1980 to 45% in 1990. In 2000, 50% of women in Australia were overweight and remained almost unchanged.
