The bar chart illustrates how many male and female research students learning six different subjects at a US university in 2011. Overall, male students interested in psychology, natural science and mathematics, whereas female only preferred linguistics subject.

According to the chart, while the number of woment studying linguistics was more than men, which constitutes approximately 110, compared to 80, the opposite was true when it comes to that on psychology, with the figures standing at around 175 in the former as opposed to 200 in the latter. Engineering and programming courses had the same pattern with 150 male students choosing both subjects and 70-80 female taking each sector. The difference was more pronounced in the field of mathematics, where 200 men selected mathematics which was approximately fivefold that of women (about 40). It is evident from the given data that women share the same interest with men in natural sciences, about 200.
