Nowadays, countries around the world are experiencing many serious issues resulted from modern means of transport. A number of effective solutions need to be taken, from both the government and individuals, in order to address these problems in the following century.
In terms of problems, the global population nowadays is over-using fossil fuels, which released an enormous amount of toxicant emissions and exhaust fumes into the air. Living in this polluted atmosphere is one of the main causes for the increasing of breathing-related diseases of urban citizens, such as asthmatic or even lung cancer. Simultaneously, greenhouse gases are also generated, which can heavily affected our environment. One of the most alarming issues correlated is the growing of temperature worldwide, named the global warming. This resulted in the melting of polar ice caps, leading to the rising of sea level and in turns causing the loss of land cover along the coasts.
Turning to the solutions, a number of long-term plans must be taken, by not only the governments but also individuals, in order to alleviate these problems. Regarding to the government, stricter rules should be enforce to deal with the rapid growing of private vehicles ownership, higher taxes on initials cost for example. Furthermore, the government needs to increase funding of environmentally-friendly bio-fuel-powered buses or eco-friendly trains, which can reduce the number of personal cars during rush hour. On an individual level, people should eschew the use of private vehicles in favor of public transport. For instance, citizens in many metropolises are making use of bicycle-sharing system, which would no doubt have positive impact on controlling the production of exhaust gases.
In conclusion, while it is clear that many parts of the world have alarming issues related to modern transportation, such as health problems and environmental issues, there are also solutions. If a number of immediate steps along with long-term plan are taken efficiently, by both the government and individuals, people all over the world will be able to enjoy higher living stardard in the future.
