The three pie charts depict shifts in how UK schools allocated their budgets for were five categories in 1981, 1991 and 2001 respectively.

Overall, in three years, the most significant spending was teacher’s salaries.  And the least amount of money was spent on insurance.

In 1991, 40% of school expenditures was for teacher’s salaries, making up the largest proportion . The figure jumped to 50% in the following year before dropping slightly by 5% by the end of 2001.

There were a shift within the distribution of indoor facilities and materials. The school budget for furniture and equipment decreased significantly from 15% in 1981 to just 5% in 1991. Then it increase sharply up to 23%  of the total school  budget .On the contrary, the budgetary expense for resources increased by from 15% in 1981 to 20% in 1991, but it dipped  considerably to a mere 9% of the entire budget in 2001.

Turning to other trends, funds for other staff’s salaries saw a rapid decrease from 28% in 1981 to 15% in 2001.In contrast; we see a moderate increase in budget for insurance, from just 2 % in 1981 to 8% in 2001.
