Every year several languages die out. Some people think that this is not important because life will be easier if there are fewer languages in the world.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
In the contemporary world, learning a new language is very common. People have a lot of languages to choose to study. However, there is a fact that some languages die out yearly. Several people consider this phenomenon as a necessary thing. It is due to the thought of a simple life when there are fewer languages in the world. From my point of view, I largely disagree with this opinion.
To begin with, the die out of languages results in the loss of the diversity of culture and language itself. Different countries have different languages, and that what makes our world interesting and diversify the culture of civilization. Languages together they create an interesting bloc. Take The United Nations for example, if several members withdraw every year, then soon or late, the United Nations will be no longer exist. Additionally, if a nation loses its own language, that nation is dead. A language builds a nation’s customs and traditions. Losing them a language means losing a nation. Another point is that, linguistic is no longer an important subject because there are just a few languages left. Linguistic is an art, a science which contributes directly to the diversity of the civilization. Without it, our world would not be a very interesting place to live.
On the contrary, some people think that this problem is not crucial. They believe that the world just needs a small number of languages. If this is real, their children can live and study abroad much easier than the current days. Their kids can get on along well with the native culture and people, because they understand the language. Even some entrepreneurs have the same thought too. Their international businesses would be faster and more convenient due to the disappearance of language barrier. They can be confident to take part in international trades without worrying about any mistakenness in communication.
To sum up, losing a language is an extremely important and dangerous problem. It can destroy the diversity of civilization, and also pose a threat to a nation where the language is widely spoken. People will no longer take it serious when it comes to languages. Above all, we need to consider the die out of languages is a serious problem and we must not let it happen.
