The provided diagrams compare the proportion of sodium, saturated fat and added sugar included in average US meals, which are possibly harmful if overconsumed.
It is obvious that breakfast accounts for the lowest percentage of the three nutrients while dinner contributes to large consumption of them.
As observed from the first chart, the percentage of sodium eaten during dinner is rather high, at 43%, compared to 29% of lunch. Additionally, snacks and breakfast share the same figure of only 14%.
Regarding saturated fat, dinner continues to contain the highest proportion of this nutrient, standing at 37%, followed by 26% of lunch. Moreover, 21% and 16% of saturated fat is consumed during snacks and breakfast respectively. While the percentage of added sugar included in breakfast is the same as that of saturated fat at the same meal, the figure for added sugar eaten during snacks doubles that for its saturated fat counterparts. Besides, dinner and lunch contain 23% and 19% of added sugar respectively.
