The line graph gives the information about the percentage of people in 3 age groups in Japan and the forecast for the future during the span of the 100-year period from 1960 to 2040.
Overall, japan’s population aged 0-14 and 25-64 follows downward trends through the period shown. By contrast, the figure for groupage from 65 and above increase dramatically.
Starting at nearly 65% in 1960, the proportion of people in the 25-64 age group remained relatively stable to the next 40 years before falling to 60% in 2020. The figures for those aged  0-14 follow a somewhat similar pattern, which began at 30%  in 1960, and fell significantly to approximately 15% in 2020.
In contrast, the percentage of Japanese aged 65 and above was just about 5% in 1960. However, the figure witnessed a considerable growth to around 30% in 2020 and is predicted to peak at about 35% in 20 years later. The percentage of Japan’s population in 25-64 is expected to rise slightly to below 59% in 2040. Meanwhile, the people aged between 0 and 14 years old are likely to become the least group, with only 5% of Japan’s population fall into this group.
