The graph below shows in percentage terms the changing patterns of domestic access to modern technology in homes in the UK.

The line graph illustrates the proportion of accessing to technology latest in British's house, namely CD player, the Internet, Home computer and Mobile phone between 1996 and 2003. 

Overall, what stands out from the graph is that there was a significant upward trend in the percentage of using all the newest devices during the period shown. Another interesting point is that the CD player is the modern technology which was used best popularly over the period.

In 1996/97, the percentage of the British using CD player started at 60%, meanwhile, it wasn't until 1998/99 that the figure for the Internet appeared and reached 10%. There was a considerable increase in the proportion of both CD player and the Internet 

in the following years of the period then finished at 82% and 43% in 2002/03.

As for other devices, there were about 19% Mobile phone was used by the British in 1996/97 compared to the figure for the Home computer around 28% at the same time. Looking at the detail of the figure for Home computer, there was a steady rise and then finished at around 58% in 2002/03. Besides, the proportion of cell phones fluctuated slightly during the period shown before reaching approximately 70% in 2002/03.
