Answer
The development of information technology has, without doubt, benefited many fields of people's lives, especially education and workplace. However, this also causes some drawbacks, and this essay will examine positives and negatives of such phenomenon.
Clearly, information technology has positive impacts on education. Lessons with audio and video components facilitate teachers to encourage more types of learners including disable and disadvantaged students to participate in class and improve their level of understanding. In addition, its advancements can provide an avenue of knowledge for a range of study fields. In fact, students can discover plenty of knowledgeable information because more and more helpful websites on internet are very effortlessly accessible.
Similarly, application of information technology at workplace has its advantages. Many business communication technologies, nowadays, would be applied in the majority of offices. Employees, for example, can use numerous means of communication to interact and exchange information at work. Employees from different departments in a company could use text messaging services or video conferencing tools like Skype to share information.
Although information technology brings certain benefits, it causes some students to become distracted and unmotivated to study at school. This stems from their belief that learning at home using computer is a much better and faster way. What educational authorities emphasize that the relationships between student and teacher or among students could be diminished. Besides, in offices, employees using much more information technologies might impinge on face-to-face communication that plays an essential role in workplace relationships. Many recent researches have indicated that where more communication is done electronically, face-to-face discussion easily fall by the wayside.
In conclusion, while the negatives of information technology are not negligible, there are good points for its positive side. To the best of my knowledge, the positive aspects of such a phenomenon far dominate than any risks involved.
