Some people believe that visitors to other countries should follow local customs and behaviour. Others disagree and think that the host country should welcome cutural differences. Discuss both of these views and give your own opinion.

These days, travelling abroad has been in vogue. Many people believe that tourists should follow the culture and traditon of the country they set foot on, whereas others think that the host country should be the one who embraces other different cultures. In my opinion, both visitors and local habitants should show mutual respect and welcome to both sides.

It is essential for holidaymakers to follow local customs and behaviour. Firstly, the custom and tradition of a nation is the things which have existed for ages and have been passed down from generations to generations. Therefore, when travelling to a new land, visitors should try to adopt its culture and fully become part of a different society to avoid causing offence to locals and even becoming a social misfit. For example, when having meals with Vietnamese, westerners should learn to invite the senior before eating and learn to use chopsticks instead of asking for a spoon or a fork. Secondly, customs and behavior are things which have shaped the local identity and show who they are. As a result, complying with local custom is a good way to attain more knowledge of the country and its people.

On the other hand, the host country should also welcome cultural differences. Clearly, it would be hard for residents of a country to accept cultures that they have never exposed to. Granted, trying to welcome customs and tradition from different nations could help the country to integrate into the globe. Furthermore, variety is the spice of life. Thanks to new cultures that travellers bring to the host country, its culture would be diversified, creating a more interesting cosmopolitian environment in the nation. Hence, local citizens could increase their blending abilities which would be helpful for them when travelling abroad.

In conclusion, i believe that while the host country should always accept exotic cultures from all over the world, tourists should also remember to follow local tradition because both sides are all benefited.
