The maps below show the village of Stokeford in 1930 and in 2010.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

You should write at least 150 words.

Answer:

The two maps illustrate the development of the village of Stokeford between 1930 and 2010. Overall, the area witnessed dramatic transformations, with the disappearance of several farmlands and the mushrooming of some residential places.

In the West of the main road, where the shops had been located in 1930, there were a new road and an added accommodation place. Also, farmlands in close proximity to the post office were replaced by a new housing area, with multiple roads and houses. However, River Stroke and the bridge remained intact.

The East of the main road experienced the emergence of several houses and roads, especially with a large number of houses along this road. Farmlands in the Northeast of the village were turned into a residential place with a new road being constructed. The primary school directly opposite to the post office became double larger in size. Moreover, the gardens were narrowed to make way for a new path and some houses. The large house was converted into retirement home with two additional blocks.

In conclusion, within an 80-year period, the village made up a considerable growth.
