Task 2: Few languages are increasingly spoken in different countries, while the usage of others is rapidly declining. Is this a positive or a negative development?

There is a growing tendency that few languages are becoming dominant, while the others are less spoken in the world. While I accept that this trend will produce some profound effects, I believe that the adverse consequences are much more significant .

On the one hand, the fact that an increasing number of people using international languages rather than minority languages brings some substantial benefits to society as a whole . Firstly, it is obvious that communication may be  more effective,  when people speak the same language. Since there is almost no language barrier, people from different parts of the world may become closer. This can also create business opportunities and boost cultural exchanges between various ethics and nations . Another advantage is that  a large amount of money could be saved. It is undeniable that the usage of the same language would lead to a reduction in expense for interpretation and translation. Therefore, it is better when this cost can be saved for other purposes .
On the other hand, the problem of this trend should not be overlooked. The most serious drawback is losing  cultural diversity. It is clear that language is one of the most critical factors of each culture. Without being spoken widely, some minority languages are dying out, which may means that some traditional culture may also disappear in future . For example, in Vietnam, English has become dominant these days. Many Vietnamese citizens are able to speak English while they fail to speak the languages of minority ethics groups.   This will put these languages and cultural traditions in danger of extinction.
In conclusion, it seems to me that this development exerts more negative impacts than positive ones .
