In this day and age, people hold opposing views about methods to alleviate traffic jams. While some people insist that expanding roads is an effective way to tackle this problem, I agree with those who argue that government should invest in improving quality of train and subway lines.
On the one hand, it is widely believed that roads should be widen to mitigate traffic congestion. Firstly, there is a significantly number of people from the outdoors who are migrating to metropolitan areas with the hope of searching for a better life. Therefore, it is crucial to build new roads in order to deal with the vast number of cars commuting on a daily basis. Secondly, expanding roads connecting big cities and rural areas also plays a vital part tin reducing traffic jams during holidays when people tend to go back to their hometown to reunite with their family and relatives.
On the other hand, there are some people who have the opinion that it would be better if government focuses on constructing rail and subway lines. One reason is that commuting by public transportation definitely helps to reduce exhaust fumes and carbon dioxide emissions released into the air, which is beneficial to our environment.
