Question: Some people believe government should spend money on building train and subway lines to reduce traffic congestion. Others think that building more and wider roads is the better way to reduce traffic congestion. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

In this day and age, people hold opposing views about methods to alleviate traffic jams. While some people insist that expanding roads is an effective way to tackle this problem, I agree with those who argue that government should invest in improving quality of train and subway lines.

On the one hand, it is widely believed that roads should be widen to mitigate traffic congestion. Firstly, there is a significantly number of people from the outdoors who are migrating to metropolitan areas with the hope of searching for a better life. Therefore, it is crucial to build new roads in order to deal with the vast number of cars commuting on a daily basis. Secondly, expanding roads connecting big cities and rural areas also plays a vital part tin reducing traffic jams during holidays when people tend to go back to their hometown to reunite with their family and relatives.

On the other hand, there are some people who have the opinion that it would be better if government focuses on constructing rail and subway lines. One reason is that commuting by public transportation definitely helps to reduce exhaust fumes and carbon dioxide emissions released into the air, which is beneficial to our environment. Another reason is that people are encouraged to leave their private cars at home and walk to rail or subway stations. By doing this, pressure on existing roads will be lessened and residents will have more chances to enhance the level of their health.

In conclusion, although there are strong arguments for both views, it seems to me that investing in rail and metro lines would be a much more effective solution to the problem of traffic congestion that human beings are facing nowadays.
