There are various reasons why inhabitants in many cities around the world decide to choose different means of transportation. Some places prefer bikes to cars for some reasons, while in other cities people tend to using cars in place of riding bicycles. From my point of view, the development of using bikes is much better rather than cars.
It is reasonable that people choose cars as the main means of transportation in daily life. Firstly, compared to other types of vehicles, cars are able to cover longer distances in shorter period of time and transport a more number of people. Not all of inhabitants study or work near their houses so the convenience of driving cars helps them cut down considerably amount of time every day. Secondly, travelling by car brings the feel of safety and comfortableness to the people. The frame of this vehicle can protect the drivers and passengers from being injured seriously. Moreover, to city dwellers, cars are better option to avoid the contaminated air or cold climates when the temperature drops to near or below freezing in the winter.
By contrast, the trend of replacing cars with bicycles is rising in some cities for some reasons. In terms of environment, bikes with no engines mean they cannot release dust, exhaust fumes or poisonous gas into the air, therefore, riding bikes contributes to the objective of protecting and cleaning the atmosphere. Besides, cycling which is a cheap, sustainable and helpful form of transportation can be useful for the amelioration of health. The time when you ride bikes to the workplace can be considered doing exercises, which is especially suitable and convenient to busy people.
From my personal perspective, both choices also have pros and cons and it depends on personal views as well as their conditions. However, I think that riding bikes brings a wide range of benefits people are well-deserved to reap. It can not only help save the budget on transportation, but also cut down emissions into environment.
