It is undeniable that general knowledge is too important to be missed; however, not all of this is required in future careers. At the same time, a large number of children disrupting the education of the majority are forced to stay at school, studying subjects that will be little value to them in the future. From my point of view, these children should be allowed to leave school early to find themselves a practical job.

In the first place, such kind of forced learning is actually a considerable waste of money and effort. Every year, the government spends a great deal of money improving the facilities of schools, colleges; advancing the professional qualifications of teachers; society pay quite the same amount of money on their children’s study. In addition, children have to use up their relaxing and entertaining time to learning their lessons, staying up late at night to do their homework. Nonetheless, these investments, sometimes, seem to be unnecessary since knowledge of some certain subjects is of no use to children’s prospective careers. What is more, once children are reluctant to learn such subjects, even if they are encouraged to do by parents, teachers or friends, they only acquire very little of what they are taught in classes. This is obviously a squandering which needs to be abandoned as soon as possible.

The second reason for my view is that having a job is a great opportunity for children to become more mature. Working outside schools helps them gain social and soft skills, which are hardly obtained at school, to solve their own problems in daily lives. Moreover, managing to make money to call their own, children will be trained to finish their tasks under pressure, in uncomfortable conditions; to work independently or on a team and so on. Therefore, they will be more self-aware and economical as well. On the other hand, leaving school at early time means children will have more time for themselves. They have freedom to focus on what they really like, such as playing sports, writing novels, doing researches without worrying about difficult exercises and stressful examinations.

Taking everything into consideration, I am inclined to believe that learning at school should be optional for children. This will prevent an unjustified loss in economy and time, as well as provide children with a lot of vital skills for their future.
