According to the graph, the proportion of elderly people in each country increases throughout the period. Furthermore, Japan is expected to have the most significant change in the future.

Starting from 9% and 7% respectively, the percentage of adults aged 65 and over of USA and Sweden rose gradually in 50 years' time before reaching nearly 15% in the late 90s. This figure of Japan remained stabilised at 5% after the same period of time.

Looking into the future, the rate of elderly people in USA is expected to rise erratically to 25% in 2040. Similarly, this figure of Sweden is predicted to witness a gradual increase to approximately 24% in 2040. The percentage of Japanese adults over 65 is thought to rise significantly to 27% at the end of the period, becoming the highest out of the three countries.
