Persuading parents to read as a way to promote reading among secondary school pupils is certainly a good idea. However, I think there are many other ideas that also need to be considered .

Encouraging parents to read is certainly a useful way to improve their children's reading. For example, provided parents take their children with them to libraries to borrow books, children will come into contact with them to libraries. They will then perhaps borrow books themselves. Moreover, if children see their parents reading, they will possibly copy them. So, I think that parents can play a positive role in the development pf secondary school pupil's reading.

Another useful way is to have some compulsory classes in libraries of schools for pupils. For example, provided that pupils attend this class, they will have more conditions to read book. If they study in linbraries, they will have more motivation to read more interesting books. They will then perhaps find books that they think they like or they need. So, I think this way will help pupils have more inspiration to read book.

Another way I think it is good to inspire pupils to read book is encouraging them to read on the Internet. Nowadays, the Internet is very popular around the world and people especially children not only read physical books but also read books on the Internet. It is a convenient way because children don't need to go to bookstore to buy books, they just stay at home, turn on the Internet, search the kinds of books that they want to read . Sometimes, they need to pay money for some books but most of books are free. While reading book, they can listen to music to relax, so they don't feel bored when reading books. In short, I consider this idea is also good way to motivate pupils to read books.

In conclusion, it ia my belief that encouraging pupils to read in order to inspire reading habit among children is an effective way but might not be enough. It would be more useful if we have classes in the library in school or encourage pupils to read on the Internet.
