The bar chart illustrates how many billion minutes British dwellers spend on making phone calls in three different call types throughout seven years, starting from 1995.

Overall, both national and international fixed-line calls and mobile calls climbed up the ladder gradually throughout the years, whereas local fixed-line one rose steadily until 1999 then fell down gradually until 2002.

At first glance, dialing numbers locally on fixed line, which stayed highest in number among the three categories, saw a steady rise in the coming five years since 1995, from roughly more than 70 to 90 billion minutes sharply. After reaching its plateau in 1999, from then to 2002, however, this figure tended to plummet dramatically from 90 to slightly more than 70 billion minutes.

 

Secondly, as can be seen in the chart, from 1995 to 2002 domestical and international fixed-line as well as all calls on mobiles both gradually took off from slightly 36 to nearly 60 billion minutes and from around 3 to roughly 45 billion minutes respectively. Furthermore, thanks to the promotion in number, the figures of these two types of call steadily rose closer to that of local fixed-line calls, considering from 2000 to 2002.
