Dear hostfamily,
First of all, I would like to thank you for reading my letter and spending time on getting to know me better. We never met – so I hope the following lines will give you an impression about me, my life in Vietnam and why I would like to spend a year in the USA.
My name is Nhi,(but you can call me Win as an English name) and I’m a 16 years old girl. I live in Bien Hoa city- a small and peaceful city in Vietnam .Currently, I am a student In Luong The Vinh high school which is the best school in my hometown. Generally, I can say for sure that I’m quite good at Literature and Biology because my of my passion in reading book. Before my graduation, I think of taking some time out of my academic program to have a different life experience. I am already aware that being an exchange student is very challenging, but I am ready for this journey. My family describe me as an cheerful, outgoing and a little adventurous. I love a good challenge and that is the reason why I choose to be an exchange student.I also have a very positive outlook on life and I think it’s important to treat everyday as special.I come from a nuclear family ,just my parents and me. My dad works a lot, as a controller, but I’ll always be his little girl. My mother work from home as an accoutant .Sometimes she teahces me to play Organ so I can play a little bit. Although we are busy with our work, but we are a very close-knit family. I consider myself very lucky.
If a family could choose a student, they should choose me because I am fun to be around and I can make a new friend in a second. I can easily get along with any member of your family. I am very unique because I am open to new things to try. I love animals, so if you have a pet we would bond well. You will not find anyone else like me.I like to read or write stories. They open many doors and inspire me very much. I like to dance also. I am a pretty good singer and I love all different types of music like hip-hop, rock, pop,… I cannot live without music. I play the piano and the organ but I would really like to play acoustic guitar.
My typical schoolday starts at 5 a:m. Getting up early is not difficult for me because I love the fresh and peaceful atmosphere in the morning. At school I love to talk with friends and join the club. Unfortunately my school doesn’t have many clubs or groups, so when I go o the U.S , I will join many groups. At weekend, I have more free time to do what I love. So I starts my new dayby jogging , then go out with my parents and have the other leisure activities.
One of my biggest dream is to travel around the world and I believe that being an exchange student would be a great opportunity for me to learn more about American Culture and gain valuable experiences in a different environment. Actually, I went to an English camp held by a university in HCM city for 5 days, and I try to speak english as much as possible therby improving my skills.
I want to meet you very much. As I spend more time with you , I’ll get to know you better. I would like to share with you my culture , help you cook some delicious Vietnamese food , tell you about our Tet- the New Year’s eve, …. I am glad to share my culture with you.
To be one of your family members is one of the happiest thing in my life. I hope that I can learn many things from you and your family during stayin in the US. I hope you are happy to see me!
I am looking forward to the year I’ll spend and the good times I’ll have with your family.
Until I see you, I wish you take care and have good days!
Sincerely yours,
Lam Nhi
