Some people think that parents should teach children how to be good members of society. Others, however, believe that school is the place to learn this.

Discuss.

The importance of nurturing children to be responsible or respectable citizens in society has always been of great concern among parents. While most people think that children should receive education from parents, there is a strong counter argument among sections of people that schools are the most advisable place for this. In my opinion, this is a matter to be debated in the light of several factors of both sides before any conclusion could be drawn.

It is generally believed that parental involvement might play a key role in the personality development of children. Obviously, educating children starts up from their infancy, thus, parents are the ones who indicate the very first basic guides, principles and rules for children to follow and obeys, for example qualities like respect, sympathy, love, kindness and morality . As education of children begins from home, what they learn from parents by observing and mimicking during their upbringing can have an enduring influence on them. Another point is that when children are taught by their parents at home they all have chances to obtaining highly practical knowledge from real-life experiences rather than theoretical things in textbooks, which schools can hardly fully provide. To be more specific, most children find it challenging to apply whole vast amount of knowledge at school into life, while their parents’ lessons may make the thing much clearer.

Nevertheless, people who are advocators of schools argue that schools can also make a significant contribution to the completion in characteristics of children. It is evident that at schools children experience a totally different learning environment from their accustomed ones with friends and teachers. This also means that they would acquire a certain knowledge from a diverse range of types of partners, immersing themselves into various views of the school community. What is more crucial, an increasing numbers of parents recently say that they rarely have sufficient time for educating their children with standard convention owing to their careers requires. Fortunately, almost all schools are instituted to teach children to grow in a normal way.

To conclude, I believe that both views are true to some extent. Parents possess an initial part towards children integration, however, schools are also necessary for their whole development. Children should be given education from both places equally so that they will be a good members of society in the future.
