The subject of juvenile court has raised many heated debates; some say this type of court should be abolished while others insist that it should be kept. I completely disagree that young offenders should be trialed in the same way that adults are, for the following reasons.

First and foremost, juvenile offenders need a less severe trial because they lack the intellectual and moral capacity that adults have to fully fathom the consequence of their actions. For example, in the US there was one a case when a young student massacred the whole school because he tried to imitate a popular shooting game he was playing; he did not understand that while the characters in the game did not die from gunshots, in reality people do. Also, biologists and neurologists alike agree that the part our brain that dictates moral judgment is not fully developed until one reaches 20’s.

Secondly, adult trial should be avoided for juveniles because there is a more effective alternative- rehabilitation. Rehabilitation, if done right, can have a more lasting effect to deter youngsters from recidivism as compared to incarceration. Young people’s personality is not fixed yet, unlike adults’; also, as aforementioned, their moral understanding has yet to be fully established, and thus they lend themselves more susceptible to rehabilitation and education process. Furthermore, since they are still young, with a long future lying ahead, a criminal record would stigmatize them and stunt all their chances at a proper career.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that young people who commit offences should be trialed differently from the way that adult offenders are treated. This is because they are yet to fully comprehend the repercussion of their actions; furthermore, they can be rehabilitated and educated more easily than adults can, and lastly a criminal record would be too harsh for their future prospects, considering their young age.

At the present age, an increasing number of people are deeply concerned about juvenile delinquency. However, whether the young committing crimes had be better treated equally as adult sinners is a highly contentious issue. In this essay, I will examine both sides of argument and state my own perspective.

Firstly, it is discernible that the young develop incompletely their physical and psychological. This means they are unable to distinguish right from wrong and even have little knowledge about what they have done, thereby, young criminals cannot be treated as fully grown-up ones. A 5-year-old boy in America, for instance, playing a violent game and this game contaminated his mind, consequently, he killed a person by his father’s gun. In this case, he cannot inflict capital punishment upon him in virtue of his immature behaviours.

Secondly, some people advocate the idea that young culprits should be punished as adult ones. In truth, although the young are not mature both physical and mental, yet they also commit serious crimes, for example, homicide, rape, or even mass murder, therefore, it behoves us to punish severely and pose alarming threats to juvenile offenders.

From my point of view, I concur with the former argument. I still hold that they are young to bear the responsibility for their wrongdoing and we had better to instruct and educate young offenders than punish them.

In sum, strict punishment might be a great method to address juvenile delinquency, nonetheless, I concede we should not treat them as adult sinners. Only by doing so, can we assure that the juvenile offender rate is likely to decline in the foreseeable future.

Juvenile delinquency has always been a highly debatable topic amongst lawmakers. While many people argue that children should be considered to be responsible for their crimes in the same way as adults , I believe young offenders should be dealt with in a different way.

Advocates of same treatment for young offenders can base their arguments upon the increasing number of juvenile crimes nowadays. They believe that though their bodies and minds are not fully developed but juveniles should have acknowledged what is right and what is wrong. If the jury don’t strictly punish young people just because of their age, then they will think it’s safe for them to make serious crimes, even murder. As a consequence, juveniles potentially become the targets being drawn into offending by gangs parties.

However, I side with those who believe young offenders should be treated in the different way as adults. People under 18 are immature, inexperience and susceptible to peer-pressure while prison environment is too violent for them. Juvenile prisoners are at a disadvantage of becoming juvenile victims because they are not as mature as adults. The more effective way to change the behavior of young prisoners is to provide them the opportunities to look into their crimes and work hard for rehabilitation.

In conclusion, I believe treating juvenile offenders the same as adults offenders is not a good decision. After all, the main purpose to punish young crimes is to help them realize what they did wrong and give them another chance to start their new lives.
