Some people agreed with the idea of banning smoking in public areas while smokers argued that tobacco industry played an important role in the economic growth, and without smoking both smokers and the economy will suffer from many disadvantages. However, I believe that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
Many people, especially young generations have been suffering from lung cancer and related diseases which cause by smoking. Scientists have shown that smoking is not only bad for your health, but also make the people around you feel uncomfortable and inconvenient. Furthermore, non-smoker may be affected if he stands near a person smoking because of the toxins released by the smoker. But they are just the tips of the iceberg, smoking also causes social evils such as: drink alcohol, addicted drugs…. Which lead to the decline in the knowledge and the streng of the younger generations.
On the other hand, it’s true that banning smoking will have some negative impacts on the economy. The tobacco industry plays a very important role in the economy of the host nation, and it even account for a great percent of goods exports to other countries. Tobacco brings huge incomes to the nation depend on it. Besides that, preventing the smokers from smoking in the public places and offices will create some inconveniences to the people smoking. Because it’s difficult to sacrifice their smoking habit without breaking the laws or bothering someone.
In conclusion, I believe that smoking is unhealthy for everyone and it’s the root of lung cancer and related diseases. So that it should be banned to protect our generations and our nation.
