Topic: People think that government should increase the cost of fuel for cars and other vehicles to solve environmental problems. Give your opinion

Cars and other vehicles offer flexibility to people’s life and work, and also provide ready access to a variety of services and leisure options. However, the widespread use of these means of transportation has real environmental costs. It is argued that government should raise the cost of fuel for cars and other vehicles. While it might seem a quick measure to solve environmental problems facing society, I think some other measures would be better solutions.

On the one hand, if national authorities raised the price of petrol, it would help limit the length and the number of journeys of car drivers or motorists. It also encouraged people who need to go to work or go to school to use public transportations. As a result, governments would then be forced to upgrade and expand public transport system. These things would cut down on emissions from vehicles and also help to reduce the greenhouse effect.

On the other hand, raising the price of fuel would lead to reduced mobility for people and a decline in the car industry. Although it is a good way to solve environmental problems caused by cars and other vehicles, it affects the economy by reducing the quantity of car manufacture. There are also other alternative measures to tackle the problem. Firstly, the government should encourage people to use public transportations by providing free buses or trains. This would help to reduce the emissions from car exhaust. The second solution would be for manufacturers to design more environmental-friendly cars or motorbikes which run on solar power .

Although the idea of the rising cost of petrol for cars and other vehicles would be an effective measure, it is unlikely to be a permanent cure.
