Many people think that students need to learn about ways to prepare food and study the scientific perspective of food at schools. While others think that it is more significant for students to study their majors. Personally, it would be more beneficial for students if they get to study about food and to prepare it.
Firstly, food plays an irreplaceable role in daily life. People consume food every day and it is certain death if there is no food. Food provides us energy, nutrition, vitamins,.... so that our body can remain in a conscious state. However, not all human beings know that what food they need to consume. They normally just eat what they want and feed themselves only when they are hungry due to the lack of knowledge about different types of foods. Take chicken breasts, for instance, they are great sources of lean protein and vitamins, they are extremely suitable for people whose purpose is to gain weight, get lean,.... but they are not recommended for people who extract cardiovascular diseases. If we are clear about the nutrition in the food that we eat, we will have better food of choices for maintaining a healthy body.
However, there are two sides to everything and there are also problems with food studying. For instance, many people consider that the school schedule should be filled with crucial subjects including mathematics, literature, languages,... and food study would be a waste of time if it was brought into schools. But after explaining the importance of food, I think that it would not be unnecessary if teachers teach their students about food as extracurricular lessons. It would not take up too much time and extremely helpful for students.
In conclusion, despite being considered a waste of time by many, food science is especially significant and I think that we should conclude it in school lessons as an extracurricular.
