It is important for children to learn the difference between right and wrong at an early age. Punishment is necessary to help them learn this distinction. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
Some people subscribe to the belief that it is essetial for using punishment as an effective method to educate children how to distinguish between right and wrong at their young age. However, I firmly believe that rewards should also be utilized in this process.
To begin with, punishment plays a crucial role in children's cognitive development about the difference between wrong and right. For instance, if a child is equpped with sufficient knowledge and has been punished for his bullying actions at school, he might not take up this bad action in his youth. Parents and teachers can offer some punishement depends on specific circumstances such as cut down their time to play in order to rethink their action and ensure that they would not commit again. Thenceforth, the juvenile crime rate would be curbed dramatically. Giving children some proper punishments is a paramount way of learning which would shape the behaviours in their adulthood.
Nevetheless, applying too stringent punishment on children sometimes has counter-productive effects. Children have to understand whether they are doing right things or not, if we just pay attention to their mistakes and criticize them, they would find it difficult to express themselves and keep these misbehaviours. Instead, parents should also encourage their kids by providing them some rewards and recognition on their good manner. Moreover, this would be a motivation for children and they are likely to become well-rounded citizens. According to some reports, Japananses parents reveal that they often give their children presents for their kids' well academic performance; as a result, their children become more productive and enthusiastic at school.
In conclusion, punishment is one of the major way of teaching children to gain right awareness; however, some rewards should aso be considered to boost their well beings.
