The use of social media is replacing face-to-face interaction among many people in society. Do you think the advantage outweigh the disadvantages?
In recent years, it is true that people have a tendency to expenditure much time on social media rather than interacting face-to-face with others. Although the benefits of this trend are varied, in my opinion, the drawbacks are more significant.
On the one hand, there are two principal advantages of using social networking sites. Firstly, due to social media, it is possible for people to keep in touch with their beloved ones as well as updating their information constantly or exchanging news. Students studying abroad, for instance, can use the tool such as video call, messenger on Facebook or Skype to keep in contact with their families and friends. Secondly, in the period of Covid-19 pandemics, when national authorities in some countries encourage their residents to restrict face-to-face interaction, using social media is a priority way to communicate with each other.
On the other hand, I believe that if social media substitute real interaction, there will be some negative aspects must be mentioned. One initial reason is people could be addicted to social media if overuse so they may not have many chances to enhance their social skills, especially communication skills. As a result, people could find it hard to attend the crowd. Furthermore, thanks to the transformation of technology, some firms could associate with the manager of social networking sites in order to steal personal details of users. For example, if someone announce on Facebook that she will travel to Da Nang next week, immediately various of Da Nang tour package will be appeared on her news feed.
In conclusion, although social media has many noticeable benefits, I consider that its drawbacks can lead to a wide range of negative results. In recent years, it is true that people have a tendency to expenditure much time on social media rather than interacting face-to-face with others.
