Cambridge 11 Test 1 Writing Task 1

The pie charts compare the proportion of water in terms of using for different purposes in six areas of the world.

Overall, it is clear that both four continents in the world had a high water expenditure for agriculture. Besides Asia,Africa and South America used water mostly for agriculture while North America and Europe was for industry.

Firstly, in North America and Europe, the figures for water used for industry accounted for the highest rate, which were 48% and 53% respectively. While in South America, most water was used for agriculture, at 71%. Furthermore, the rate of water used for domestic did not seem to have any different between 3 areas,Europe, South America and North America, at 15%,19% and 13% respectively.

Secondly,the data of water usage in Asia and Africa was apparently contrast with either America or Europe. Water usage in Asia and Africa was twice as much as America and Europe which corresponded 84% in Africa, 88% in Central Asia and Southeast Asia was 81%. However, in Africa and Central Asia, water for industrial use experienced the lowest point, at 7% and 5% while it was domestic use in Southeast asia, at 7%.
