The charts below describe the percentage of being capable of speaking foreign languages apart from English British students at one university in 2000 and 2010.
In general, the ability of English speaking skills of the students was following a positive tendency that the proportion of other languages spoken experienced a slight increase in Spanish, one and two other languages despite the decline of French speakers.
In details, the percentage of students who only speak English was comparatively high, precisely at 20%, took up one-five acreage of the pie in 2000. However, in 2010, this rate reduced by half (from 20% to 10%), which reveal the increase in the quality of British students in the university. Besides, there was also a fall by 5% of French-speaking
students only.
On the contrary, the proportion of the group of Spanish, Another language, and two other languages spoken all raised by 5% from respectively 30%, 15% and 10% in the period of 10 years. In particular, the rate of British students who speak Spanish always occupied the highest figure in both pies, at 30% in 2000 and 35% in 2010.
