The table indicates the quantity of mobile phones, which are sold in millions by five brands, namely Nokia, Ericson, Samsung, Motorola and Apple for a six-year period.

In 2006, Nokia was the leading producer of mobile phones, followed by Motorola and Samsung with 345, 210 and 117 millions respectively. While in the same year, no figure was given to Apple. It was interesting to note that the two following years: 2007 and 2008, Nokia, Samsung and Motorola continued to account for the highest sales in mobile phones.

During the next period, the number of mobile phones auctioned by Samsung and Apple soared, reaching at 396.5 and 135.8 millions in 2012. By contrast, the sales of Ericson and Motorola both witnessed a dramatic decline, ending equally at 28 millions at the end of the period. However, Nokia’s sales fluctuated gently, finally stood at 335 millions.

Overall, Samsung and Apple gradually became the most prevalent mobile phones brands; nevertheless, Ericson and Motorola steeply lost their positions and the other demonstrated negative tendency.
