Question

The given graph illustrated the percentage of how many elders with the age of 65 and older from 1940 and 2040 in three specific nations.

Overall, all three countries will have more people at 65 and above over the period. Japan will be the country with the highest proportion aged 65 and over at the end of 2040.

At the start of the period, three countries all had the proportion of population aged 65 and over around 5% to 9%. Till 2000, both Sweden and USA had their proportion at 15%. While Japan had never had their percentage of people at and above 65 over 5%.

Looking at the second half of the period from the 2000 to the 2040, we can see that that Japan will witness a jump in the number of elders at around 2030 and peak at over 25% in 2040. At this time, Sweden and USA will also have their numbers increase and the proportion of population aged 65 and older will reach 25% at the end of the period.
