Some countries sponsor sports as a way to advertise themselves. Some people think it is good, while others think there are disadvantages to this. Discuss both sides and give your opinion.

 

On the one hand, sponsoring sports will positively affect both individual players and their countries. By being funded, sport teams have the opportunity to get access to free equipments which they cannot afford themselves, and do not need to be worry about financial problems. As a result, they can focus more on achieving goals and improving their skills. Besides, people will have a positive look at those companies donating products and equipments for the sport players. Therefore, advertising purposes may not be a detrimental effect, but instead a clever way to gain reputation for the teams and the sponsors. 

 

However, there are some limitations when organizing sport events for advertising purposes. The main disadvantage might be the lack of concern about messages from the sponsors. To be more precise, sport fans will be more interested in the event rather than who are raising fund for those matches. Another drawback when some companies offering sponsorship with large budget is that if their players are notorious for misbehaving, it will lead to an adverse impact on the product sales. An illustration for this is when a player is caught using drug or addictions, as a consequence, the companies involved in that sport team might be negatively influenced.
