The given graph indicates the amount of carbon dioxide fumes each person emitted in four country, namely the UK, Sweden, Italy and Portugal over a course of fourty years starting from 1967.

Overall, while the quantity in average CO2 per capita saw an increase in Italy and Portugal, that of the UK and Sweden showed a downward trend during this period.

According to the chart, the period between 1967 and 2007 experienced a significant rise in the figure for emissions emitted in Italy and Portugal. In 1967, that of Italy stood at 4.2 tonnes, followed by a roughly twofold growth by the end of the period and becoming the second highest country. Similarly, an upward trend could be witnessed in the average fumes of Portugal from 1.6 tonnes to 4.8 tonnes. However, it accounted for the lowest position throughout the whole period.

An opposite pattern could be observed in the number of CO2 emissions emitted in the UK and Sweden. As a result of developed economy, the UK had the highest amount through this period, however, there was a slight decline to approximatelt 8.8 tonnes in 2007. This period also underwent an apparent drop by 3.6 tonnes of Sweden by the end of the studied period, after peaking at roughly 10.2 tonnes in 1977.
