The pie charts illustrate San Diego, California and the remaining parts of the world in terms of the proportion of water consumption for three different sectors namely residential, industry, and agriculture. It is obvious that while the percentages of water consumed for residential and industrial purposes in San Diego and California were highest, the figure for worldwide was the lowest. Additionally, there was little difference among using water purposes in California.

In worldwide, the most percentage of water consumption was agriculture at 68%, which is the highest figure over the charts shown. Meanwhile, there was 23% of the water used for the purpose of the industry, followed by 8% in the domestic sector. The opposite is true for San Diego where a majority of the water used for residential at 60%. The proportion of water consumed to cater to the industry was slightly higher than that of agriculture, occupying 23% and 17% respectively.

In California, the percentage of water usage for the distinct purposes was mostly similar. The figure for the domestic sector was 39%, compared to those of industrial and agricultural purposes making up 33% and 28% respectively.
