The given pie charts indicate considerable changes in the annual expenditure of a UK school in 3 years 1981, 1991 and 2001.

Overall, it is clear from the data that while there were an increase in insurance sector and a decrease in salaries for other workers, the money spent on teachers’ salaries, resources and furniture and equipment showed a fluctuation.

As can be seen from the charts, in 1981, only 2% of total expenditure was directed towards insurance. After that, the insurance’s proportion rose steadily to 3% in 1991 and then more than doubled over the next 10 year period. However, other workers’ salaries sector, which constituted nearly a third of total spending in 1981, fell down by a half during the next 20 years to just 15% of the total quantity.

Moreover, teachers’ salaries showed a steady change. From 40% in 1981, its percentage reached half of the total spending in 1991. Although it then decreased to 45% in 2001, staff salaries sector made up the largest proportion of the total spending. The trend is similar for furniture, whose percentage reached 23% at the end of the reported 20 years. In contrast, resources spending showed a gradual rise in the first 10 years before declining to just half as much in 2001.
