The pie charts illustrate the percentage of people’s expenditure on various merchandises and services in a specific European country in the year 1958 and after fifty later years.

Overall, it is obvious that the rate of spending on luxury goods, food, and housing rose. It is also noticeable that there were downward trends in the portion of clothing, entertainment, and travel.

In 1958, the money spent on luxury goods registered the lowest, at 7%, compared to the slightly higher proportion of food and housing, at 8% and 13%, respectively. 2008 witnessed a considerable incline, with almost 10% higher, in the figures for the above-mentioned categories. By 2008, housing expenditure overtook the spending on clothing to reach by far the highest number.

On the contrary, the allocation to remaining services and commodities declined. By 2008, the expenditure on clothing dramatically plunged from 32% to 12%, while the figure for entertainment experienced a steady decrease to reach 16%. Likewise, the rate of travel fell by more than half and stood at 6%.

Feedback: You have used a possessive form where you probably need a plural. Revise: "people", "peoples", "persons".

Error type: Possessive apostrophe error

Suggestion: people, peoples, persons
