Topic: In many countries today, people buy a range of household goods (TV, microwave, oven and rice cookers). Is it a positive or negative development?
In a world of consumerism, household goods has become one of the most poppular demand of all families. Some people believe that those appliances are what distinguish today's society from yesterday's because of their potential effects, while others think there are some disadvantages. In my opinion, this development has introduced both positive and negative aspects because of the benefits and drawbacks which have been brought to human life.
On the one hand, when properly used, it seems that those equipments can have a great convenience in daily life. For instance, the rice cookers can prepare a nice bowl of rice in a short amount of time by reducing the number of steps required. Another case in point is that food can also last longer than its natural expiration dates by keeping on refrigerators. The simillar advantage can apply to another devices like microwave, washing machine and oven. Therefore, it helps people cut down half of the time spent on doing houseworks, gives them more oppotunities to pursuit their own interests, or simply just for relaxing after a hard-working day.
On the one hand, the overuse of household appliances can results in some negative effects which are should not be overlooked. Since the fast develoment of online selling, many people spend a huge amount of money on buying stuffs which is not as qualified as the advertisement and even useless. Thus, these misleading marketing styles can do harm to not only individuals but also the government's economy. Additionally, modern consumerism is likely to have an environmental impact. The process of making electronic devices in factories may releases extremely toxic gases directly to the air. Especially the CO2 emisions is one of the main reason of air-pollution.
In conclution, the development in consumption of household appliances can benefit human's life a lot, although they also pose some negative effects on ecosystem and economy.
