Nowadays, tourism is increasingly popular in many countries around the world, especially discovering cultural and historical destinations. There is a widely belief that local visitors should be charged less than tourists from overseas when they choose to visit these places. I totally disagree with this idea.
The reason why many individuals believe that there must be a difference in the payable expenses between two various groups of tourists is that the resident population have to bear the tax budget for restoration and development of monuments. This means that they are not responsibility for paying a fair cost compared with foreign visitors. However, I think that this opinion gets the wrong horribly. The money which they spend on valuable services such as hotels, restaurants, souvenir shop or transportations not only provide owners with a perfect opportunity to raise incomes but also provide host country’s economic situation a great chance to be significantly improved. Thus, citizens should have awareness of taking of advantage of this strength to maintaining fairness in cost and encouraging more and more foreign visitors to visit them.
Moreover, there have a lot of potential risks if government decide to allow local people to pay less than oversea ones. In fact, many tourists think that fairness is a crucial factor in tourism. If they recognize that these destinations offer services for them at a higher price than local residents, they would be impressed as places which do not show enough respect. In addition, they can unfortunately share negative comments for their relatives or friends. These prove that the local tourists themselves harmed the development of their own countries. As a result, there is more and more difficult to promote local tourism and finance for the maintenance of these destinations.
To conclude, government ought to propose a feasible solution to increase the amount of foreign tourists and enhance the well-being of economy. If not, they can be suffered heavy losses in the tourism industry.
