Globalization is considered to have positive influences on the world’s economies, however its negative aspect is also substantial. While I believe that globalization has optimistically revolutionised our world for the past few years, I would argue that its detrimental affects should be noticed and tackled thoroughly be the governments.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that globalization have myriad of advantaged. To begin with, it gets rid of strict regulations and high tariff on exports as well as imports so that citizens will have chance to afford a variety of international items. It is reported that with the appearance of low-cost and high-quality imported goods, people on average can meet their basic human needs more than they did in the past. Secondly, globalization inevitably advances technology, which results in inhabitants’ highly improved living standard. For instance, the innovation of computer completely changes people’s ordinary communication since it can help users to have distant talk via Skype or Facebook. As a consequence, people in the modern world do not need to meet in person to have a talk because they can utilize computer or laptop to communicate with each other in convenience. Furthermore, computer is also an indispensable device for people who work or study abroad to keep in touch with their family, relatives and friends.
On the other hand, I believe that globalization destructive impacts should be regarded carefully by the authorities. Firstly, some cultures are losing their identity and people tend to adopt new universal culture through the widely broadcasted foreign programs in television, smart phones and other social media. This can lead to the decline in culture diversity and a detrimental blend of culture. If this problem still continues, people in all over the world will soon be assimilated and therefore, the meaning of history of each nation become regardless. Secondly, globalization sharply accelerates population growth and environmental degradation. For example, globalization improves citizens’ standard of living, which means that people will live longer, bird rate soon outweighs death rate and over population arises. As a consequence, the natural resources will be over-exploited to supply for the increasing number of inhabitants, which causes many serious issues such as global warming, green house effect, air pollution and so on.
In summary, globalization is a two-side affair in the prevailing society. In my point of view, its negative side apparently outweighs its benefits.
