Opinions are divided that work attire is of paramount importance in many organisations, while some people argue that employers should prioritize the work efficiency over the aforementioned issue. In my opinion, how workers dress can be taken into account in some companies with specific functions.
On the one hand, it cannot be denied that working quality is the most essential criterion that organisations aim at their employees. In many online-based and technology companies, for instance, Amazon, Google, Nintendo,etc. clothing requirements are not usually a problem, which results from the fact that most workers do not have to deal with interpersonal business and will wear whatever comfortable so that they can do their tasks more effectively. In addition, in some situations when working from home is an obligatory option, like an epidemic quarantine, it stands to reason that dressing regulations can be eliminated, and workers can still do their tasks.
On the other hand, many companies nowadays, which require a lot of face-to-face communication, realize that dress code affects their image and reputation. Apparently, dressing formally in the workplace is commonly considered as a trait of professionalism, which reflects a company's reliability, especially in the service industry such as restaurant chains, hotels, law companies,etc. Besides, almost every national and international organisation has strict regulations on how workers dress in the workplace. This which definitely plays a crucial role in bettering the productivity and prestige of a company. After all, appearance matters.
In conclusion, work efficiency is undoubtedly one of the deciding factors for an organization to function, but that employees are smartly dressed dressing can considerably enhance their productivity as well as the image of their company.
