New technologies have changed the way children spend their free time. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Answer:

It is true that nowadays morden technologies have altered how youngsters spend their leisure time. Despite some obvious disavantages of this trend, I personally believe that these are overshadowed by the advantages.

On the one hand, there exsits some negative influence of using technological devices in free time on children. Firstly, electronic games sometimes are extremely addictive and can make schoolchildren spend hours on them. My classmate friend perfectly examplifies this situation. He was so absorbed in a computer game, League of Legend that he tended to distance himself from others, skip meals to get money and play until very late at night everyday and therefore, invested little in doing homework. As a result, this leaded to his poorer academic performance at school and gradually laged behind his peers. Secondly, you may suffer from health problems when spend too much time with the computer. A lot of people often get eye-strain when they keep their eyes glued to screens daily.

On the other hand, I believe that the benefits are more considerable than the drawbacks. One advantage is that it help youngsters broaden their knowledge, complete themselves with a host of informations that Internet brings and gather up-to-the-minute news without reading newspaper. For instance, children can learn online about pratical skills such as communication or presentation skills which are not taught at school. Furthermore, technologies give small kids numerous opportunites to make friends with the same interest throughout their country. In recent years, schoolchildren can no longer feel lonely and isolated with the development of social network such as Facebook or Instagram.

In conclusion, I argue that the benefits of latest technological devices surpass the drawbacks and it will be more popular in the future.
