The table below shows the changes in some household types in Great Britain from 1971 to 2007. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where revelant.

The table compares the alterations in types of family in Great Britain between 1971 and 2007. Overall, families with one person, couples without children and lone parent saw a rise in proportions over 30 years whilst couples with dependent and non-dependent children experienced a fall at the same given period.

It is clearly seen that in 1971 couples with dependent children had the highest proportion (52%), which was almost threefold the figure of couples having no children (19%). At the same year, lone parent and one - person families remained the two lowest household types with 4%  and 6% respectively.

For the next 30 years, however, one – person houses doubled its rate whereas lone parent tripled its percent. By contrast, couple with dependent children substanstially plummeted to 39%. At the same period of time, couples having non-dependent children marginally dropped to 9% whilst couples having no children went up to 25%. In 2007, 4 out of 5 household types remained stable, except couples with dependent children that sank to 36%.

In conclusion, after a period of over 30 years, kinds of households in Great Britain witnessed a dramatic change, specifically one-person families, couples having no children and lone parent increased significantly whereas couples with either dependent or non-dependent children decreased.
