Question

the line graph below illustrates how much three kinds of foods potatoes, pasta and rice a country in Europe consumed in the period from 1976 to 2006.

At the first glance we can see that in general there was an increasing trend in consumption of pasta while the falling appeared in potatoes and rice. 

Firstly, it is clearly shown in the graph that the amount of potatoes and rice people ate from 1981 to 1986 was quite high at about nearly 300 grams per person each week for rice and over 400 grams for potatoes. However, this amount gradually deacreased until 2001 when the amount of rice experienced a steady rise up to over 200 grams but still lower than the beginning, whereas the consuming of potatoes witnessed a continuous fall only around 100 grams in the same period of time. 

On the side of Pasta, people tended to eat more pasta in the first half time from about 300 grams in 1976 to nearly 500 grams in 1991. However, this level still remained for the rest of the time. 

in conclusion, we can see that in the same time the amount of potatoes and rice consumed had a fluctuate trend but decreased in general while there was a steady growth in pasta consuming.
