The charts compare the populations of France and India in related to age distribution according to gender in 1984.

It is clear that in the year of 1984, the population of India was younger than that of France, with a noticeably larger percentage of people under 20. On the other hand, a significant rise in elderly inhabitants could be seen in France in the given time.

In India, there was roughly 14% people aged 5 or under, and each five-year cohort above this made up an increasingly smaller proportion of the population. In contrast, France’s population was more evenly distributed across the age bracket, with from around 7% to 8% of all people between the ages of 0 and 40. Besides, between 2% and 5% of all French people were aged 70 or older, however the equivalent figure for India one was only 2%.

In terms of gender, the percentage of French women took priority over than men in every cohort from age 50 upwards. However, there were no considerable gender differences on the Indian population chart.
