Foreign visitors should pay more than local visitors for cultural and histor ical attractions. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

The development of commercial airline has signaled the rapid growth and expansion of international travel. It is argued that visitors from overseas should be charged more than local residents to tourist attractions. I strongly disagree with this opinion.

To begin with, if international holidaymakers realized price discrimination in favor of local visitors in a particular nation, they would decide not to return to this country on holiday. Take Vietnam as an example. A significant reduce in travellers coming to Vietnam has been seen for 6 years. The reason is that overseas visitors are constantly being overcharged, which makes them feel treated poorly and ripped off. Even, this issue has destructive effects on the national image but also Vietnamese tourism industry as well as lives of local people who rely on tourism as a major source of income.

Besides, overseas tourists have a huge role to play in economy and tourist sites of the host country. When foreigners visit a country, they spend their money on a wide range of goods and services, including food, souvenirs, accommodation and transportation. In other words, foreign travel and tourism industry is regarded as a capital investment for national infrastructure. Moreover, international visitors also help to promote to the nation’s cultural heritage through their contribution for the maintenance of these important buildings. Undeniable benefits international visitors bring to every country, governments and inhabitants should be happy to encourage people from the rest of the world to visit important tourist places instead of increasing service price for them

In conclusion, foreign tourists should be treated fairly as residents from all aspects. Besides, every effort should be made to attract visitors from overseas. It would be counterproductive to make them pay more.
