Task 2: Celebrities set bad example to young people

Topic: Nowadays celebrities are more famous for their glamour and wealth than for their achievements, and this sets a bad example to young people. To extent do you agree or disagree with this statement

 

It’s a fact that today many celebrities achieve fame and fortune due to their glamour lifestyle rather than their real efforts. On one hand, I accept that those celebrities have negative impacts on how young people think, live and work; on the other hand, I also believe that some celebrity icons act as positive role models.

It’s quite common in media coverage, some celebrities are famsque. In other words, they achieve fame just because they are born with a silver spoon in their mouth, have connections with famous people or win a prize in a tabloid magazine. Let take an example, Ngoc Trinh is well-known as the queen of bikini in Vietnam.  She reached the peak of her fame and wealth for nothing but her beauty, rich boyfriend and scandals. Her shocking statements representing materialism lifestyle mislead young people, especially girls that success can be achieved easily by making little efforts. Attractive appearance is all you need to get everything in your life: fame, a rich husband, a glamorous and lavish life.

Nevertheless, many public figures have good reputation due to their skills, talents and outstanding achievements. In this extent, their fame and fortune have inspired young generation to set goals, make great efforts to lead a comfortable life. Besides, celebrities take advantage of their influence to raise funds for charity and inspire youngsters to involve more social activities.

In conclusion, young people should learn strong determination and hard work from celebrities with real fame.
